Our May Gold expedition can be done as either your practice or your qualifying (AKA assessed) expedition. It takes place in the South and East of the Lake District, and you can expect to be journeying and camping through classic Lakeland terrain around the likes of Kentmere, Windermere, Langdale and Ullswater.
Starts: 14.:30 (basecamp near Kendal).
Nearest train station: Kendal (5 miles/15 minus by taxi).
Ends: 16:00 at Windermere Train Station.
Included in the price:
- Tents, stoves, fuel, maps, compasses and first aid kit provided.
- Personal kit available to borrow: Rucksacks, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, waterproofs.
- Campsite costs for all four nights.
Minimum walking distance on longest day: 19 kms.
When you arrive at the basecamp you will meet your Supervisor and the rest of your team mates, and will plan your expedition route with them. Your supervisor will go through the various pre-expedition checks with you and make sure that everyone is ready for the following morning. The team will cook an evening meal on camp stoves and will then camp overnight at the basecamp before he expedition begins in the morning.
You will need to bring your own food for the duration of the expedition, as well as for your evening meal and breakfast before setting off.
