Our Gold practice expedition takes place in Yorkshire, starting near Baildon and finishing at Skipton. It is designed to cement your expedition skills and to give you the experience needed to be ready for your assessed expedition.
Starts: 17.00 (basecamp near Baildon)
Nearest train station: Baildon (2 miles/6 minutes by taxi) or Shipley (3 miles 10 minutes)
Ends: 16:00 at Skipton Train Station
Included in the price:
- Tents, stoves, fuel, maps, compasses and first aid kits provided.
- Personal kit available to borrow (rucksacks, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, waterproofs).
- Campsite costs (3 nights).
Minimum walking distance on longest day: 18 kms.
When you arrive at the basecamp you will meet your Supervisor and the rest of your teammates, and will plan your expedition route with them. Your supervisor will go through the various pre-expedition checks with you and make sure that everyone is ready for the following morning. The team camp overnight at the basecamp before the expedition begins in the morning.
You will need to bring your own food for the duration of the expedition. An evening meal on the first evening, and breakfast before setting off on the first morning (to be prepared on stoves) is provided.
