Our April Gold expedition can be done as either your practice or your qualifying (AKA assessed) expedition. It takes place in the Yorkshire Dales, starting and ending in Skipton and journeying into Wharfedale. Like all of our Open Expeditions it is designed to be accessible by public transport; start and end points are at, or within walking or taxi distance of, train stations.
Starts: 14:30. Skipton, North Yorkshire (TBC)
Nearest train station: Skipton (TBC)
Ends: 16:00 at Skipton Train Station (TBC)
Included in the price:
- Tents, stoves, fuel, maps, compasses and first aid kit provided.
- Personal kit available to borrow: Rucksacks, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, waterproofs.
- Campsite costs for all four nights
Minimum walking distance on longest day: 15 kms.
When you arrive at the basecamp you will meet your Supervisor and the rest of your team mates, and will plan your expedition route with them. Your supervisor will go through the various pre-expedition checks with you and make sure that everyone is ready for the following morning. The team will cook an evening meal on camp stoves and will then camp overnight at the basecamp before the expedition begins in the morning.
You will need to bring your own food for the duration of the expedition, as well as for your evening meal and breakfast before setting off.
